heaven

On this glorious Easter morning, I awoke, wide awake,  at 5 in the morning. I went back to sleep and finally got up at 6 something but with the lovely heat pack on my neck and the Word I drifted back asleep again. As I recall this short interlude of time, I'm struck by how often one can fall asleep, even when the dawn beckons to arise, and shine.  I love that the Lord gives us just enough, all that we need. He gives His beloved sleep. But when He awakens you, awake. :)

On my drive to the B & N, I looked to the clouds and was struck with the reality that the Heavenly City is real. The angels, the four living creatures, and the elders, never stop praising the Lord. Day and Night they cry Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God Almighty.

What did it look like this morning as they recalled our Beloved Jesus' Resurrection?  What did their worship look like, when the Son of Man, the darling of Heaven, conquered death once and for all, and burst through the heavens?  What was it like when HE came back to sit at the right hand on the throne of the Father?

I'm taking Stephen Venable's class in the Biblical Foundations of Day and Night Prayer and we've been focusing on Heaven.  One must have a solid foundation of this real place, this city not built with human hands, that is physical and tangible. The dwelling place of God where incessant worship happens, day and night. We can't see it, but it most certainly exists and it's inhabitants wait for the glorious collision of heaven returning to earth. :) It's the place where Jesus, the Son of Man, is waiting for His bride, a church, made ready. Waiting for the moment where He can split the sky.

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Dear Ones, set your mind on heaven, set it on Christ, focus on where He dwells and the activities happening there. Join in what's happening in heaven.  Set your mind on things above.
