to catch up

Well, that picture maybe isn't the best to put up there but it will do for now. :0

There is so much to talk about and so little time! I plan on keeping up with this--as it's a great way to express in the written word how I am feeling, process what I'm doing, and keep everyone up to date. So, I hope that actually happens. :/

I'll update later tonight.....

so stay tuned

Short and Sweet

Since the hour is drawing near and I really need to get some sleep....

I'll just give you a brief update.

Katie Paulus is moving away--a dear co-worker at the bookstore. We spend so many great hours together, on the road, on the phones, on the computer.....I thank her for inviting me to her wedding and for being a reflection of God's gentleness.

I'm turning 20 tomorrow! Gasp!? My plans are to be on the front lines at abortion clincs for about 4 hours, have a nice lunch with a friend, and rest! I enjoyed a great time of laughter with some of my sweet friends this evening by taking me to the Cheesecake factory and the holiday lights at the beach.

I had an amazing time in Illinois and can't wait to return again next winter. I felt the joy of being such an impact in another person's life, was able to relax (despite the fact that we never went to be before 12am)....

My brother Mason is a senior this year. Scary. Pray that he knows the God of this universe cares about him SO MUCH and that he has a purpose and a calling in Christ.

I started writing a Christmas letter (our family has never completed or sent one and I wanted to do that this year..) We will see what happens.

If you read this, please post so I know to keep up with you.

The Life in Illinois

My Christmas break is being spent in the lovely town of Champaign-Urbana in Illinois. There have been a lot of different things I have gleaned from coming.

the break away from the everyday pace of work, friends, school, life, my room, my car, has been SO refreshing.

i want to live in a place with snow.

your life can be fast paced if you make it that way, if you believe it is, and if you don't make time to be still and quiet in an environment that is.

every city, every state, has people that need the love of Christ. people that need to be stirred from their sleep.

death comes when we don't want it to, but we must accept that and not treat death as something that is there to take away the joy we have but it is there to remind us of the hope we have in Christ. remember that their is a time to live and a time to die. What a great time to grow even closer to the Father who is the giver of life? Who knows the day of of our departure from this earth!

goodbyes are hard, not as bad as death, and leave a sting that makes both parties anticipate the next meeting. thankfully, they only last a little while. i hope this goodbye will make me pray.

sking was a blast! i fell so many times. but, i felt the wind upon my face and the snow blow in my eyes, and a gentleman helped me up and taught me, so very patiently, how to ski.

and a few quotes from my Illinois/Virginia Playlist:
"you'll be the prince and I'll be the princess"
"i can smell the death on the sheets, covering me, i can't believe, this is the end."
"i hear jerusalem bells are ringing..be my mirror my soul my shield, that was when i ruled the world"
"i just need this old train to breakdown"
"banana pancakes"

to be continued......

Oh me, oh my! Has it been that long!?

Pardon my lack in writing, does anyone read this anyway? It's a good place to write even if no one is reading it.

-I'm trying to figure out the KLOVE music pattern. Should I be hearing the same song twice in one day? Wait, should I be hearing multiple songs twice in the same day? Better yet, should I be singing a song and then turn the radio on to find that song playing (for the third time?)

-Ok, I'm not sure why I've started to listen to KLOVE again, because it really bugs me that they repeat their songs, BUT, during my listening sessions on one of my many trips in the car I discovered the following about a few churches and their interesting practices:
A. A certain church here in the U.S allows cell phones to be used as a way of "ministering" to the congregation. Yes, cell phones are used during the sermon! More specifically, twitter is used and messages are displayed on the projector for all to see. What? Interesting.
B. A lady pastor (thoughts on women pastors anyone?-- personally i don't believe there should be women pastors) initiated an evening service where dog owners can allow their pets to worship with them during service! Yeah, the thought came to her as she was reading a passage from Scripture that said something about letting all of creation worship God (Psalm 90?). It happened that as she was reading her dog was lying at her feet. Ok, this is just weird.

Who knows what you'll hear on KLOVE.

My back is REALLY hurting, and my legs might experience charlies this evening. Too much Israili dancin' this past Saturday my calfs hurt so bad! Off to do a little planning before I go to sleep.

Are you living to suffer and die? Are you DENYING, TAKING UP YOUR CROSS, and FOLLOWING Christ, everyday?

happenings

i like this color, it's the color of my new purse, which is a pretty cool.

why don't I update this thing more often? maybe I need to get it more publicized then i would be more motivated to actually update it oftener (yes, i just made up the word).

i just returned from Nicaragua. I love that I can write quicker than I can write personal letters. I love getting personal letters, but writing lots of them (ok, i'm working on writing thank you's which encompasses lots of handwritten personal detailed letters) can be a little tedious and time consuming. in the end it shows that I really cared and appriciated the person, right?

Though this trip was filled with LOTS of travel--from Virginia we traveled to Washington, really ruffed it in a Best Western at the Pentagon, flew out of D.C to Florida where we waited for 4 hours, then flew from Florida to Managua. Our traveling didn't stop there. Once in Managua we traveled about 30 minutes to our hotel where we would meet up with our Tico (those from Costa Rica) friends for the evening. In the morning, we traveled a good hour to the port where we then boarded the Ferry that would take another hour till we reached the island, more traveling then, about an hour--did we think our traveling was done yet? Well we thought so, at least for the time that it took us to swim in the lake (that felt like bathwater)--we had ministry that evening at a church another hour from the hotel. :) Yeah for travel! ----and so, though it was filled with lots of travel, there was a lot of time for downtime and rest, time to really "Be still and know that I am God".

Ministry for me as one of the girls consisted of VBS in the mornings for 4 days, rest in the afternoon, and ministry using dance and puppets in the evening. The next four days, we stayed at a lovely Orphanage positioned again right on the water. Great times at the pavilion sitting in a hammock. Delightful. Here, we had VBS in the morning at the orphanage and VBS at a church about 20 minutes away in the afternoon. We continued with ministry as a group (with the Tico's) in the evenings to various different churches.

I know that seeds were planted on this trip and I'm sure we were such a blessing and and encouragement to Alan and Susan Killingsworth. It was really a nice trip.

In other news, I continue to work through the summer--Tuesday-Friday at the bookstore. I'm also geering up for another semester of school that starts August 21st.

I need to beging organizing and planning for me next week (and weeks to to come!) So many people to see, lots of things to complete and do...

Finding the pleasure and Joy in serving my King!

here is my journaling for today.

sigh. i've been getting to bed really late lately. but, tonight, i plan on getting to bed much earlier! before midnight is what i'm shooting for.

i wanted to make sure the clinics were taken care of as i won't be attending the mercy seat tomorrow. however, i couldn't get a hold of mike, so I will pray here. busy weekend ahead with the seafood dinner and silent auction. i also get to sing at the mission which is very exciting!

YOU are my joy. i do like that song, because it's true. Jesus is my joy. reminds me of when nate gave his presentation in speech and debate. or was that another class? Reading the Word of God gets you so pumped! I haven't felt as weak lately which is a great feeling! i can relate to feather aka heather. i can't begin to imagine what she is going through actually loosing a sister, but my pain is similiar. i lost my sister in christ. still cant seem to wrap my finger around it, cus' it just shouldn't have happened. but, i have peace. i've felt a knot inside my stomach and sudden fear, but i know God is not a God of fear or anxiety. so, i give it to God. I rest and stand in knowing Jesus.

but of course, i can never dwell too long on this particular subject or i'll begin to cry again or get discouraged. there will be time and years to rehash this. it'll go away but never fully.

I spend entirely too much on food. and it must stop.

it's drawing near to ten o' clock which means i need to go to bed. i've got to go wedding dress (no, i'm not getting married) tomorrow with anna for matt dussia's wedding, then i've got to babysit for an hour, make monkey bread, finish my petty little english assingment, rest (hopefully) then go to bible study.

I find HOPE in Jesus Christ. :)

I like this one the best!

SOOOOOO I'm thinking of getting my hair cut with side bangs! And no Katie, I don't think I'll dye my hair. Does anyone have any tips on smoothing puffy, sometimes frizzy, hair? Ideas are welcome!
